Milan Dobes, born on 29 July 1929 in Prerov (CZ), is a leading representative of European Op Art, a pioneer of dynamic constructivism and a master of multimedia creation. His work is included among the absolute top of the world constructivism and kineticism. Milan Dobes received international recognition as early as the 1960s. Since 1965 he has held countless exhibitions not only in Czechoslovakia but also abroad (USA, Uruguay, Japan, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Prague (CZ), Bratislava (SK). In his work he uses many technicist elements such as electric motors, light bulbs, convex and concave mirrors. He incorporates movement as an additional dimension in his works to create optical illusions. He also works with glass, plastic and metal. He is the author of two Manifestoes (On Light and Motion, 1961 and Dynamic Constructivism, 1988).

The exhibition of Milan Dobes, in the iconic Expo 58 building, which Milan Dobes himself visited in the late 1950s during his visit to Brussels, and where he re-evaluated his previous work and began to lean towards geometric abstraction, thus after more than 60 years, returns to the theme of Op Art (optical art), geometric or perceptual abstraction. Visitors can look forward to works from the 1950s to contemporary works, as Milan Dobes is still active at the age of 94. Paintings, kinetic objects, optical reliefs and graphic works will be on display.
