In 2011, ALAG also signed a contract with the National Gallery in Prague, agreeing to jointly publish a catalogue raisonné of Frank Kupka’s oil paintings.

Since 2009, ALAG has been the first Czech auction house to regularly organise Evening Sales of exclusive masterpieces. These unique auctions are always the auction events of the year in Czech Republic, and it is here where all the Czech auction records had been broken, hand in hand with the absolutely unique achievement of the successful sale rate of 90%. It was also at these Evening Sales, where a few world auction records had been broken.

It is above all due to the Director’s close contact with both Czech and foreign restituents, art collectors, private and state institutions, funds and museums, that the company is able to achieve such successful results. ALAG’s Director Vladimir Lekes is the only Czech art expert noted in the prestigious and world renowned ‘Guide international des experts and spécialistes’ published in France.

ALAG further represents the owners of the most important Czech private art collections. The company had been entrusted by George Waldes, the heir of the industrialist Jindrich Waldes, with the sale of the most precious artworks belonging to the Waldes family, both in Czech Republic and United States. We have also been representing the families of Prof. Vincenc Kramar, Dr.Frantisek Èeøovsky, Prof. Václav Holzknecht, and collectors from US, Britain and France, including Hugo Polak, Bernard Galateau and Guy Flandre.

The company resides in Prague’s Josefov, at the unique and original ‘Hirsch’ apartment designed by the pioneer of Modern 20th century architecture Adolf Loos (1870-1933). The apartment has been rediscovered in Pilsen in 1988 in a devastated state, and had been consequently saved, carefully restored and re-installed in the heart of Prague. Currently, a book is being prepared about this jewel of Loos’ architecture under the leading hand of Professor Bernhardt Rukschcio, the most important expert of Adolf Loos’ works. The apartment has also been successfully introduced to the public at the exhibit ‘Adolf Loos Season’ at the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects in London. Our company has been positively reviewed by worldwide media, including The New York Times, The International Herald Tribune, Sunday Times, Independent and The Observer.
